Sweet Tweets

I know you’ve all been scratching and shivering waiting for your Sweet Tweets fix, so this week you get a double dose of tweetastic humor! WOOT! This week we are giving away the “Rockstar” poken from PokenGirl.com!

If you haven’t been filled in yet, pokens are the newest, freshest craze in social media and networking. Pokens are simply digital business cards. Each unique poken character has a USB cord attached (the “hand”) that when plugged into your computer, uploads all of your new contacts’ information to your own personal poken profile.

I personally love the idea of not having to worry about designing, printing, schlepping or losing paper business cards. You simply touch pokens (or “high four”) and voila! You’re connected. Woooooohoooooo!! This is going to be the standard. That’s why I love spreading the poken gospel! You can read more about these cool little devices here.

Please Help Save Elizabeth Chalker’s Life!

I really, really, really, really need your help!!! Our family friend Elizabeth Chalker, 39 years old, was an accomplished forensic and sports psychologist. She’s been sick half of her life and completely debilitated the last 7 years with severe Late Stage Lyme Disease and Endometriosis. In bed 98% of the day… Horrific 24/7 pain from her head to her toes that prescription pain medication does not take a way… 24/7 migraines and nausea that only change in level of severity… Unable to stand without holding on to something or falling down… Seizures… Shaking… Severe neurological issues… Must crawl when she can get out of bed… Can barely talk… AND she lives totally ALONE, abandoned by family, friends, even her church! Yet she has the best attitude and strongest faith you can imagine! What an inspiration!

Elizabeth lives in South Florida. The only doctor who can help her is in Washington State. Without this treatment she will DIE. But, treatment will take many months and tens of thousands of dollars. She currently has no insurance coverage. Elizabeth’s resources are exhausted from years of being misdiagnosed and being administered improper treatments as a result. She now has the correct diagnoses and a team of doctors who can appropriately treat her complex case.

She is in desperate need of funds for…
(1) Private plane or air ambulance ($50,000)
(2) At LEAST a year of treatment ($50,000 - $60,000)
(3) Medications, rent, food, and a part time caretaker ($40,000 - $50,000)

CKJR Surprise Giveaway

If you’ve been keeping up with Twitter, you may have noticed what Christina Kim surprised me with after my 1up victory in the inaugural CKJR showdown. If not, well, that’s what I’m here to brag about. Christina was sweet enough to have the people over at Titleist build me a custom Scotty Cameron prototype putter! She even had Scotty Cameron, himself, stamp “Speed Raser” onto the back!! Plus, she went out of her way to overnight it so I would recieve it before I left town to head out on tour. Can you believe her?! I am so blessed to have made such an amazing new friend, all because of the power of social media! #twitterandfoursquareftw

In keeping with the spirit of giving, Christina and I would like to give away some stuff. We don’t want this to be all about us, we want YOU to have an active role! We are tapping into uncharted waters here, people. We need your input and feedback in this adventure.

Both Christina and I are passionate about showing the world a completely different side of golf. We want to do something hip, fresh, and different. We strive to be both innovative and unique. In the end, we hope to bring a totally new audience into the game.

Party For A Purpose

I am so happy to announce that gospeedraser.com and Blu Frog Energy are co-sponsors of Cents of Relief’s Party For A Purpose in NYC!

Cents of Relief (501c3) was founded by my highschool buddy, Anup Patel and his fiance Rina Patel to help provide healthcare to women and children caught up in human trafficking / sex trade. Anup is one of the most brilliant, hard-working, and compassionate people I have ever come to know. He credits his fiance, Rina, as being the driving force behind the organization. She is such a strong, sweet, and dedicated woman. I’m happy to help such unselfish and deserving friends.

Anup co-founded Cents of Relief after working with women and children trafficked into prostitution. He has written and lectured about the health consequences arising from human trafficking at various conferences and universities and recently been cited in the New York Times bestseller book “Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide.”

As plastic and reconstructive surgical resident at Yale University, he assisted in the establishment of annual burn missions through a partnership with the Harvard Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Operation Smile. Anup remains active in addressing and developing policy measures to reduce the surgical burden of disease through initiatives by Cents of Relief.

He obtained his undergraduate degress in economics, biochemistry, and molecular genetics from the University of Florida and his M.D. and M.B.A from Yale University.

Rina co-founded Cents of Relief with Anup in 2003 at the University of Florida. While Anup worked in India over the summer of 2002 he wrote to Rina about the women and children he was working with. Together Rina and Anup colloborated on ideas for projects to help victims of human trafficking and Rina began to develop the Cents of Relief website (new site launch on March 11th at Party for a Purpose). With a background in computer science, Rina also developed an e-mentoring program which Cents of Relief has had a pilot launch of in Kolkatta and hopes to fully launch this year.

Rina is currently working as a business productivity advisor for a software company out of Boston. She obtained her undergraduate degree and masters in computer science from the University of Florida.

If you live in New York City, or will be there March 11, 2010, we would love it if you came out to support this worthy cause. I mean it’s at Jay Z’s 40/40 Club and tickets are only $25 bucks in advance ($30 at the door). Not to mention there is a free vodka hour and free Aveda mini day spa included! Need I say more?!?! I’ll be there with some friends from Orlando and would love to throw back some Cristal with you!
